The Axis deer at Hoffman Hunting Ranch are some of the most beautiful in the state. There are no seasonal restrictions in Texas on Axis Buck so you can enjoy hunting them year round.
Not only are the Axis Deer considered by many to be one of the best tasting and tender wild game meats in the world, but the Axis Deer is also the leanest of all mammals (99.8% fat-free).
Axis Deer have three tines on each lyre-shaped antler that grow up to a trophy size of 30” to 36”. Their most distinguishing feature of the Axis Deer is their dark spotted stripe that runs from their nape to their tail.

We offer Fallow Deer hunting at Hoffman Ranch. the Fallow deer is an exotic species and is also considered to be a very desireable trophy hunt. The Fallow Deer is native to the Mediterranean countries of Europe and North Africa. It occurs in 3 distinct color phases here in Texas. One of the phases is an almost near black color pattern with a white rump patch that stands out. The second phase is when the animal has a white or cream color which will also look whiter during the winter than in its summer coat. This white phase is the most commonly found in Texas. The last color phase of the fallow is when the animal has a fawn, it will have white spots in summer and a uniform grayish brown, with little or no spotting, in the winter. A full grown adult male Fallow Deer can stand between 32 and 48 inches tall at the shoulder and normally the animal will weigh up to 200 pounds. The Fallow Deer's antlers are palmated and have several small tines with 1 large tine arising from the palm. A trohpy set of antlers measure from at least 28 inches in length and have an inside span of 24 inches or more.

Texas is the best place to hunt Whitetail Deer in the United States because of its high population. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department estimated that there are over 4,000,000 Whitetail Deer in Texas. Hoffman Ranch has a high concentration of Whitetail Deer.
